   At my site the main index page isn’t displaying an image from my flickr account. I have a “filler” image from flickr saying “This photo is currently unavailable.” When I view the page source the static link to the image is incorrect, actually it doesn’t even end in .jpg or an extension at all. Any advice? Here is a link to my issue:

   Yes I’m looking into your bug report now. I think it has to do with the size of the photo you’re uploading, but I haven’t made a fix yet. I’ll post an update when I get it worked out - probably today or tomorrow.

   Hey Michael,

   I like this app a lot, been giving some other photoblogging engines a try last couple of days, but they don’t integrate with Flickr very well.

   I just ran into the same problem as noted by Johnny:

   Can you help me out? Oh, and I noticed another bug, the title used in the lightbox doesn’t render the single quote very well, if you take a look at the first photo, it just says “m” instead of “m’n opa”. And where did all the capitals go by the way?

   I figured out what the problem was, I didn’t have a Flickr pro account yet. Now I do and now I can use the largest photo size (not that I need to anymore). Not finished yet with my site, I’ll post a link when I am.

    You’re probably referring to the portrait photos. They’re scaled horizontally too far which makes them look lower quality. I’m fixing that soon.

    I’m having a problem where I’ve chosen only to display images from a certain tag (’diary’), but all my Flickr images are shown instead.

    Is this a known bug? There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with my configuration file.

    Hi!

    I’m really interested in using flogr as part of my new site - two or three things (and i’d be more than happy to help implement them)

    1) Can you limit the image size? The images on my site are just too big for a standard 15 inch lcd. Doesn’t bother me with my 26″ widescreen, but you know, i want to be accessible to all!
    2) Can you limit the sets that show up with tags as well? For example, i could tag four or five photos in each set with “photoblog” - however i pick nothing from other sets - anyway to exclude these sets with no tagged photos from the sets menu?
    3) Any chance of a tag cloud?

    What i mean i suppose, in regard to photo size is currently the index uses the largest size possible. I would prefer to just use the medium image, just as the slimbox uses. However, i’m struggling to follow your code in the index page which builds the image url.

    today i set up my flogr at rgphotos.net… great app btw. the one issue i have is the same as Bear. I set my tag in the config file, and it works as far as showing the correct photos in recent, and showing the latest tagged photo on the index, but when i press the Previous link, it still cycles through my full flickr, not just the properly tagged items. Is this a bug or how the system is setup to work?

    @kieran - About the index page’s photo size, the best way to do this is to edit .photo style class in style.css and change the max-width to your preferred photo width (i.e. medium is 500px I believe).

    thanks for the reply. On that note, for me the best addition would be to point the photoblog at a specific set within my flickr account, instead of the whole stream. I think this level of control would make this solution an even more attractive app to people looking for flickr integrate photoblog software.

    Michael - setting the width doesn’t really do it for me - i don’t want all photos to be 500 wide, because portrait photos will be even taller (the problem now!) i want the longest side to be 500 (flickrs medium option).

    This could be an option in future releases, for example in the config you would choose small, medium, large or original.

    Now, i am quite happy to edit the code, but i’ll be honest, whatever i do breaks flogr at the moment, and i just want to stick in the medium photo each time.

    Kieran - I prefer separating the internals of the application from the interface. Try replacing the photo class in style.css with this.

    I’m looking for a Flickr slideshow/browser, and there are lots out there. None I can find has the feature I want: to be able to sort the pics by title order before displaying/paginating. If the pic info is read into a MySQL database and then the info is pulled from there (while the pics come from Flickr), it should be easy to get them in the properly sorted order. Is that what your app does? Or does it provide the sort-by-title option at all? If not, have you heard of one that does?

    Fella,

    Back to limiting the photo sizes I’m afraid. Max-height and max-width don’t work in ie6.

    I only found out by accident showing my parents at home.

    Seems a shame i can only show people my photoblog to people running a decent browser - i’d have preffered to not be exclusive!

    Ah,

    For those who want to be backwards compatible, you will need to use the following (assuming the max dimension is 500 for both height and width).

    I was using the expressions for ie but ended up with bizarrely squashed images, hence my post above. However, you need to to only resize the image in one dimension if it is the longest size, so the code below determines and makes sure the longest side doesn’t exceed 500.

    max-height: 500px;
    max-width: 500px;
    height: expression(this.height > this.width && this.height > 500 ? ‘500px’ : true);
    width: expression(this.height < this.width && this.width > 500 ? ‘500px’ : true);

    Michael, I appreciate the hard work you’re putting into this. It’s very helpful. I’m having the same issues as Bear and rygood. I can’t get it set to just one tag, even though I’ve checked everything I know to do, and it’s all right.

    And I do have a suggestion… can we change the date at the bottom to the date taken, not date uploaded? I’ve tried to figure it out on my own, but I’m not very knowledgeable in PHP.

    One question, the commenting has to be done through flickr, that means that someone will always have to have a flickr account to comment. Is there a way that you can have both the flickr comments and other (non-flickr) comments?

    It is certainly possible but would require me to manage the comments on your web server - in a database or file - and “merge” them with your flickr comments. I think I’ll keep it the way it is and pull the comments from flickr for now. Thanks for the feedback!

    michael, thanks for the input. i’m a complete n00b at this, but will see if i can find someway to merge the comments..
    i have the option of using a mysql dbase for the flickr pictures as you said.. so that gives it a bit more speed. now the challenge is self eduction as to the merging bit

    I think this would be your email address, well I hope so anyway. I have a site similar to yours and I am pretty sure you are using the satellite script to pull from flickr as well. Mine is www.fletchcorp.com/photos .

    I was going to ask you a question about how you got the comments and title to come up in the preview slimbox. I currently do not have this in mine and was wondering if I could borrow the code I think it is in slimbox.js but i am not a full time coder so not sure Also your mouseover on the pics are cool how it has the title and comment,

    The other thing that I am not sure whether you have considered but I was going to look at a way around it, this is my situation.
    I write blog posts www.fletchcorp.com and usually put the photos from flickr as they are a good size to cut and paste and then link to more photos. I would prefer to link to my site like the photos in this post, however they then go to a static page which is on the flickr site.

    This is my proposed solution
    Make it so that it somehow links to an open slimbox on the collection page
    make it so when I copy and image to the blog it uses the small image but points to the permalink page somehow so the the image is displayed on my site with details etc
    What do you think about this? Any help you would be able to give would be great.

    This document has all the default sizes that flickr uses with the longest edge being the length specified. I have uped the size of my thumb nails to _m which is medium similar to the ones on your own flickr page

    I don’t know how to display a random photo off hand, but you could display your most interesting photo by adding sort to the photoSearchParams in index.php:27.

    And you shouldn’t change the config API ($config_flickrApiKey) this is what flickr uses to identify it’s flogr calling.

    thanks for a great package…love the integration with flickr….

    i solved the issue of image sizes by always posting my flickr shots at 950px wide, this always guaranteed high quality images on my flogr page…it works for me..

    why does the path from the RSS feed have root/photos/image number instead
    of the root/image number?

    is it possible to drop the /photo/ preconfigured path bit?,
    by default, if you install the package in the root of your site the RSS links(from the image) do not work.

    Thanks for entering a bug for the RSS feed path issue on http://flogr.googlecode.com. It makes life easier for me to have the bugs over there vs. pulling them out of a comment stream

    @scott - I’m not familiar with the satellite script and the only place I’m using slimbox is for the recent photo popup.

    Have a look at http://mootools.net/. This is what I’m using to do the comment/exif box and a few other dynamic effects.

    Can you link your photos in your blog post to your photo album manually (I don’t know how to do copy/paste w/javascript)? Something similar to what I do with the “Photos” block in the bottom left of this page.

    I using wamp and flogr.

    My problem is that I the homepage (index.php) always seems to use the 500px image from flickr and stretch to the 740px wide.

    How can I use my original 800px wide images I’ve got on flickr to display on the homepage rather than my medium size images.

    Thanks Chris. What you’re asking is possible (I’ve seen it on other sites), but I don’t know how to do it - so flogr doesn’t currently support it. Can you log an issue to track this on http://code.google.com/p/flogr so I don’t forget?
